Devotional ghats of Ayodhya at dusk

The story behind Ayodhya Deepotsav

Ayodhya Deepotsav is painted on the ghats of the Saryu at night. Temple spires with saffron flags rise against an indigo sky with a crescent moon, wooden boats rest on the still river, and the stone steps are covered in thousands of lit diyas, the way Ayodhya lights its ghats for Deepotsav every Diwali.

The story behind it is the most loved wedding in Hindu homes: the marriage of Ram and Sita. Wedding songs across Awadh, Bihar and Mithila still call the groom Ram and the bride Sita, and Vivah Panchami, the day of their wedding in the month of Margashirsha, is celebrated in both Ayodhya and Janakpur. For families who want their invitation to carry that blessing, this design says it without needing a single word.

It suits Awadhi and eastern Uttar Pradesh families, Ram-bhakt families anywhere, and couples marrying in Ayodhya, Varanasi or another temple town. Its warm diya light against the dark night also makes it a natural choice for weddings in the Diwali-to-winter season.

Because the cover has no people on it, only the ghats, it feels devotional and peaceful rather than busy. Your names are written in a clear serif at the top of the sky, where they read easily.

Every function gets its own page, so tilak, haldi, mehendi, the pheras and the reception each have their own time, venue and Google Maps button. Guests also see a countdown, your chosen bhajan or song, a voice message from your parents if you add one, a photo gallery and a simple RSVP form, in Hindi or English.
